How Commercial Firms Are Using Grids in the US and Japan

Dr. Robert Cohen gave this presentation, entitled 'How commercial firms are using Grids in the US and Japan,' at a seminar organized by the Israeli Association of Grid Technologies in Raanan, Israel, on February 20,2006.

The seminar discussed how commercial firms are using Grids in the US and Japan, including the financial services, pharmaceutical, auto, aerospace, computer, semiconductor, and telecom industries. The highlights covered the rate of cluster and grid adoption, including when Enterprise and Partner Grids are likely to be deployed, the move to virtualization and the use of SOAs as a means to increase resource scalability and resiliency, as well as to improve time to market, and the benefits specific industries will gain from Grids. In focusing on Grids and telecoms, the seminar examined how service providers are moving to support Grid traffic and using Grids for internal management and control. New business models for telecoms that are based upon Grid service models also werediscussed.
