Cluster and Grid Computing in Japan: Today and in 2010

Many different types of firms have begun to use clusters to speed their R&D and design processes. We were able to interview executives involved with these product development operations (i.e. design, R&D, etc) and technical computing users at a series of Japanese firms.The rapid adoption of grid computing will have a dramatic impact on costs and business processes by the end of this decade. Nearly every user firm and vendor we interviewed indicated that there would be important cost savings in the first two to three years of cluster and grid computing use.
