Strategic and Competitiveness Assessment

ESIC undertakes major studies and assessments on behalf of sovereign clients which help form the basis for rejuvenated national, provincial, or city competitiveness strategies. ESIC has already successfully undertaken such studies for clients in the Middle East, Latin America, Asia, and Africa. Issues covered by these strategic and competiveness assessments typically include a diagnosis of the current situation, bench-marking against relevant competitors, an analysis of threats and opportunities moving forward, and original, results-oriented recommendations.

Research and Analysis

ESIC provides research and analysis on a range of economic and strategic issues. The specific products and services ESIC can provide include:

Commissioned Studies: ESIC produces major commissioned research studies on global public policy debates, and trade, investment, and strategic issues.

Intelligence Reports: ESIC produces custom-tailored intelligence reports which keep clients apprised on a regular basis of key developments in specific countries or regions.

Advocacy Pieces: ESIC produces advocacy pieces to advance a particular viewpoint or recommendation on policy or strategic issues. These typically take the form of position papers or opinion articles placed in influential newspaper, magazines, or journals.

Political Risk Analysis: ESIC helps its corporate clients make informed and intelligent decisions about the level of political risk in a given country under consideration.

Commercial and Business Services

ESIC provide a range of bespoke services to assist companies in assessing and successfully entering foreign markets. The specific services ESIC can provide include:

Business Missions: ESIC organizes intensive business missions for its corporate clients, typically 7 days in duration and covering one or two cities, depending on the needs and interests of the client. A full program of relevant meetings (business, government, academia or analytical) are arranged. ESIC staff lead these missions "on the ground" and deliver background briefings and lectures on the business, economic, and political environment in the countries visited.

Market Assessment: ESIC undertakes original research and analysis to help companies assess the relative competitiveness of their products or services in the foreign market under consideration.

Entry Strategies: Based on the market assessment, ESIC helps companies craft a winning market entry strategy.

Government and Institutional Affairs

ESIC provides a number of services to help clients successfully manage the variety of ways their interests and activities are impacted by governmental entities or international institutions. ESIC also assists governments and institutions execute their missions and objectives, especially as they relate to engagement with the private sector.

Government Analysis: ESIC is able to identify the key levers of power within governments and the viewpoints of key officials on specific policy issues. ESIC analyzes the likely impact of particular government initiatives, especially in the realm of trade and investment initiatives. ESIC does not however engage in direct lobbying activities.

Government or Institutional Outreach: ESIC also provides services on behalf of government agencies or international institutions with a mandate to facilitate investment or trade. ESIC provides executive training and the development support materials to build the capacity of companies, especially in less developed economies, to take full advantage of trade and investment agreements, and the opportunities they present. ESIC can also assist local or national governments develop successful investment promotion programs.

Conferences and Seminars

ESIC provides a variety of services to help it partners organize, develop and execute world-class CEO-level conferences and seminars. In addition to a long track record of convening such events under the aegis of the Economic Strategy Institute, ESIC has also worked as a partner and provided support to other events of global stature, including the APEC CEO Summit. The specific services ESIC can provide include:
