How it works

Business books columnist Richard Pachter selects a new book for the club every month. On a first-come, first-served basis, a limited number of members can get a free copy by e-mailing This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. with the member's name, address and phone number. The next book

The United States has the world's biggest military by far, the biggest economy, the best universities and the strongest financial system. The dollar is the world's benchmark currency. Surely, if you could pick any hand to play in the game of world politics, this is the hand you would want. Many leaders believe America will face no serious competition for at least a generation.

In Three Billion New Capitalists, the international trade expert Clyde Prestowitz explains why this belief is a mirage. He describes the powerful trends whose convergence is rapidly shifting wealth and power to Asia -- and why geopolitical clout will follow economic strength.

What does the club do?

Review books! When you receive your book, you have approximately three weeks to read and review it. Simply send your review back by e-mail to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. and Pachter will run excerpts of selected club members' reviews alongside his own.

A few restrictions
