Neither Party Cares About Job Creation (It's All About The Trade Deficit)

You would think that with real unemployment hovering at or about 15%, both political parties would be talking about job creation all the time. As Clyde Prestowitz notes, they're not.  The Obama campaign is focused on trying to frame the 2012 election as a referendum on Medicare.  The Republicans seem to think economic policy begins and ends with tax cuts.  

As a result, no one is talking about the trade deficit, which, as Prestowitz observes, is the 2012 campaign issue "hiding in plain sight."
