You would think that with real unemployment hovering at or about 15%, both political parties would be talking about job creation all the time
. As Clyde Prestowitz notes, they're not
. The Obama campaign is focused on trying to frame the 2012 election as a referendum on Medicare
. The Republicans seem to think economic policy begins and ends with tax cuts.
As a result, no one is talking about the trade deficit, which, as Prestowitz observes, is the 2012 campaign issue "hiding in plain sight."
